Greetings, Curlies!

It’s been a while, but I wanted to be sure I came on to document a recent discovery about my hair! If you’ve read any of my previous posts, a huge part of my “hair journey” has been figuring out how to care for my very high porosity hair. Previously, I’ve written about my regimen being washing my hair once per week, applying multiple products for wash and go’s, etc…

BUT!!…..

Recently, I’d been a little lazy with my hair and I went a weekend without washing it. Surprisingly, my hair still looked good! So, I wanted to experiment..I went another weekend without washing it..my hair STILL looked good! Lol. Long story short, I realized that I don’t necessarily need to wash my hair every week. I think I’ve been able to go longer in between washed recently because I’ve found a new staple conditioner! With this conditioner, I don’t have to apply multiple products to my hair for my wash and go’s. ALL I need is this conditioner, and my wash and go’s are BOMB. Because I’m only using one product in my hair, there’s not as much build-up on my hair, meaning I can go longer in between washes.

So, now all I do to my hair in the morning is spritz with water, rake through my conditioner, and that’s it! I’ve even discovered that I can also refresh my hair in the mornings using coconut oil instead of conditioner. Loving it!

This new conditioner has simplified my LIFE: Shea Moisture’s new leave-in is AMAZING. I’ll have to do a post on that alone lol. This just proves that finding the right conditioner can totally alter the way you take care of your hair. If you still haven’t found that product that conditions your hair and gives you what you’re looking for–KEEP SEARCHING because once you find it, it’ll be SOOO worth it!

If you have any questions that I haven’t answered here, feel free to ask below 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Happy New Year, Curlfriends!

As you can see from the title, I recently tried Pura Body Naturals Chocolate Hair Smoothie deep conditioner on my hair. They were having a buy one get one FREE sale, so I got a bunch. I’d heard good things about it, and the ingredients looked great, so I was hoping I would like it lol.

Thankfully, I did! The slip is GREAT, the smell is YUMMY, and it conditions very well. It smells and looks JUST like a chocolate milkshake. Even the consistency is kind of like a shake–kinda thick but not too thick. I also tried it on my sister’s hair and her hair loved it too. So, score all around! I’ll list the ingredients below. If you’re looking for a good deep conditioner, I encourage you to give this a try. I’ll also post a picture of my wash and go the day I rinsed this product out of my hair. Curl poppage GALORE!

Ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Butter, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ricinoleamido-propyltrimonium Methosulfate, Imidazolium Quat. Hey Curlfriends!

I’m still trying out deep conditioners, and recently bought this Camille Rose Blue Algae Deep Conditioner. I know what you’re thinking…”Blue Algae?!???” I had the same thought lol. But in reading up about it, blue algae is a great source of protein..and y’all know my hair LOVES protein..so I thought I’d give this a go.

Ingredients: Distilled water, blue green algae, honey, aloe vera juice, coconut oil, mango seed butter, shea butter, hemp, grapeseed, glycerin, green tea, panthenol, rose hip, jojoba oil, evening primrose oil, peppermint oil, msm, biotin, vit. e and LOVE!

I washed my hair and applied this to my hair. I actually left it in all weekend for 2 nights and washed it out Monday morning for my wash and go. Listen…my hair was so SOUPED up!! It was juicy and super moisturized! This Camille Rose is a keeper for me! It’s a very thick consistency and has a pleasant scent. Overall, I loved it! Can’t think of anything negative to say about it.

I haven’t seen this line on the ground anywhere, so I ordered mine from CurlMart.com. Next, I may try this Jessicurl DC I keep reading about. Hmmm..

Til next time!

Hey Curlfriends!

Hope you’re all doing well 🙂 Just wanted to do a quick review of this As I Am Hydration Elation Deep Conditioner. This product has the perfect name! Lol it’s TRULY hydrating which just makes me and my hair SO happy. I’ve been looking for a good deep conditioner for a WHILE…months. I’d been unsuccessful, but THIS STUFF…..AMAZING! You know how sometimes you have to work a product through your hair before you feel the effects of it and can really detangle with it? Not the case with this. The INSTANT that I put it on my hair, my hair melted, the knots dissipated, my hair strands separated and softened..instantly! Detangling was a BREEZE. This stuff is insane. I’ll definitely be re-purchasing. I don’t know what ingredient in this stuff my hair loves, but I have got to figure it out. Maybe it’s just an awesome combination of ingredients, which it is. There are no sulfates, parabens, or silicones. I’ll list the ingredients below. But yeah…Hydration Elation is absolutely a winner for me. If you’re looking for a staple DC (deep conditioner), I would recommend giving this a try! I’m thinking about trying it as a leave-in as well…hmmm.. 😉

Hey Curlies!

So, this is another product I got on my Curlmart Haul. I’m STILL in desperate need of a good deep conditioner (DC). This product has great reviews online, so I decided to give it a shot.

I washed my hair as normal and applied the product in smell sections, twisting up my hair once I was done applying the conditioner to each section. I used a generous amount for each section. It went on okay–not a lot of slip, but it was okay because I didn’t need to detangle. I got the “Strawberry Ice Cream” scent, but I don’t really like the smell, doesn’t really smell like strawberries to me. I let it sit overnight, like I usually do when I DC. I also applied some of my oil mixture of Sweet Almond oil with 2 drops each of Rosemary & Peppermint essential oils. The next morning, I rinsed it out. I’ve done this about 4 times with the Curl Rehab, and I pretty much get the same results each time.

It’s an okay deep conditioning treatment. Not bad, but not amazing. I probably wouldn’t buy it again, just because it’s a little expensive ($20) for a product I don’t LOVE. It was just *eh*.  SO I’m still on the hunt for the perfect DC. My hair is so particular, it’s ridiculous! I need something super rich and ultra moisturizing. My hair loves protein and rich moisture. One day I’ll find a great DC. Until then, I’ll finish using up this Curl Rehab.

Til Next Time!

I recently discovered a new vlogger that I absolutely love: NurekaD. She’s so fun to watch and I LOVE her accent! She recently posted a review of a new product line, Sister’s Keeper, which sounds amazing and I definitely want to give them a try! I actually just ordered the Sunburst shampoo bar, the black soap, and goat milk bars. Peep her review below.

Hey Curlies!

Okay, so this is long overdue. BUT, I wanted to be sure to blog about my experience with some products I got from my Curlmart Haul: Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in Conditioner, Oyin Handmade’s Hair Dew, Whipped Pudding, and  Burnt Sugar Pomade. Yes, I used all of these products on my hair at once because yes, I have very high porosity hair. I have to layer products in order to really maintain moisture (You can read more about that here, if you’d like).

Anyway, let me just say that I absolutely love ALL of these products! After washing my hair, I just twisted it up for the next day. I first applied the KBB Sweet Ambrosia leave-in conditioner to each section. I loved the way it felt going into my hair; it’s creamy and has a nice slip to it. I also smells AMAZINGGG. Next, I applied Oyin’s Hair Dew, and finished with the Whipped Pudding, also by Oyin. I can’t really place the scent of the hair dew, but it has a pleasant smell. It’s also very moisturizing, but a bit thicker than the Sweet Ambrosia–the hair dew is more of the consistency of a thicker lotion. The Whipped Pudding smells AMAZING too–it smells like chocolate, I wanted to eat it! Lol..but I didn’t 🙂

Lately I’ve been doing my wet twist out method, so the next morning, I dampened my twists with a water/aloe vera juice mixture before unraveling and fluffing–my hair was BOMB..so soft, moisturized and super defined. I loved it! I sealed with the Oyin Burnt Sugar Pomade and that was it! I couldn’t keep my fingers out of my hair that day! 😀

Til Next Time!

XOXO
