Hey Curlies! 🙂

As I’ve discussed here before, having high porosity hair can really be a pain sometimes, as it causes my hair to not retain moisture as well as I’d like it to. (I discuss my hair porosity and issues I’ve had more here, if you’re interested).

Anyway! I recently went to a hair stylist for the first time in years to have my hair straightened. I’m a little traumatized from having horrible heat damage before, so I only have it straightened maybe once per year. Am I being dramatic? Probably so, but whatever! Lol. So, while at the appointment, my hair was given a deep conditioning steam treatment. I had never had a steam treatment before, but I figured it couldn’t hurt, right?

Well, fast forward 2 weeks later when I washed my hair and returned to my curls (finally!). My hair was SO soft and fluffy when I went back to my wash and go! Usually, as I mentioned, I have trouble with getting my hair to retain moisture. As a result, I typically have to layer a bunch of products and conditioners along with an oil..blah blah..and it’s usually STILL dry/crunchy for the first few days. But this time…my hair felt AMAZING for the entire week! And here’s another kicker…I had only used ONE conditioner and sealed with my oil mixture.

This may seem so minor to some people, but for me, this is MAJOR. To go from having to layer product on top of product and using ridiculous amounts of oil only to STILL have dry hair can be REALLY frustrating, to say the least. The only thing I can think of that is different about my hair is that: 1) I got a trim, and 2) I had a steam treatment!

Have any of you who have high porosity hair ever had a steam treatment? How did your hair respond?

If you have high porosity hair and have never had one and you’re open to it, please try it and let me know your results! I’ve tried to research this topic, but there is not much information on the internet about high porosity hair in general and I’ve found nothing about steam treatments on this type of hair. If THIS is how my hair responds to it, I definitely need to incorporate it into my regimen!

Hello Curlies! 🙂

It’s been forever, right? Don’t judge me! Just popping in to say I’ve updated my favorite products/HG list. It’s actually changed a lot over the past couple of years!

If interested, you can find it here!

Thanks for reading, I’ll post again soon! Xoxo

Hello! 🙂

I’m writing today to let you know about an amazing product. If you’re struggling with thinning, shedding, or dry hair, then this post is for YOU. I’ll link the website below, but basically this is an all-natural hair oil with AWESOME ingredients designed to create an optimal environment for hair growth. The ingredients are proven to fight bacteria on the scalp, nourish the hair from the inside out, provide incredible shine, and stimulate the hair follicles. I’ve been using it for months and I LOVE it. I can’t do without it lol. When I first started using it, my hair grew 1-2inches in 3 weeks! For me, that’s SIGNIFICANT.

Here is one testimonial from the product, in which there were AMAZING results!

“I was so discouraged and scared with the state of my hair before learning about this hair oil. My front crown area was so thin you could see straight through to my scalp. I am a woman in my early 30’s so I didn’t know if it was just my hormones or if I was going bald. After only about 3 weeks of use I saw a drastic difference in the thickness of my hair in the area that was once see through. At first I thought I was seeing things so I kept moving hair around to make sure it was the same spot! But it was definitely the same area and it continues to thicken. I love this hair oil, it is not thick and greasy. It has a perfect consistency and the smell is not overwhelming. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 20!”

Check out this post on Hair Gels from! I think they list some good gel options to try from varying price ranges. I plan to try out at least a few of these! :o)

I had to write to GUSH over this AMAZING deep conditioner! I discovered it via one of my favorite hair vloggers, Melshary. It’s the LACE Natural Brahmi Root Hair Masque. I wish I had the words to fully express to you the amazing-ness of this deep conditioner. AH! It literally melts into my hair and INSTANTLY softens my hair. It has great slip and makes detangling a BREEZE. It also has a nice soft scent, that’s not too over-powering. It’s just awesome and I need to not EVER be without this stuff!

I also LOVE that it has all natural ingredients because I like to leave my deep conditioners in my hair. Yes, you read that correctly; I don’t rinse them out! My hair feels great after leaving this in! Have you ever tried this DC? What do you think? Isn’t it AMAZING?!

Helpful video from the awesome Naptural85 on how to finger detangle your hair. I RARELY use combs on my hair, I always finger detangle!

Yes, it’s been forever. Now that we’ve acknowledged that, let’s move on 🙂 If you don’t know, my daily style is pretty much a wash and go. I wear them 99.9% of the time. I haven’t mastered the art of a lasting twist-out yet, so wash and go’s are just easy for me. ANYWAY. I was pretty much re-doing my hair every morning because after sleeping on it, it was of course, a little matted and just not poppin. I’ve tried pineapples and banding, etc. to preserve curls, but my hair was just not having it.

SO. I’ve been on the hunt for a hair gel that holds my hair without a disgusting crunch. I got 2 gels to try out a while ago, and here are my thoughts on the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker gel and Shea Moisture’s Curling Souffle.

Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker: AWESOME softness and shine! However, the hold was not as long-lasting as I was looking for. Now, the label does say that it provides a softer hold, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. But I love how soft and sleek my hair felt when I used this!

Shea Moisture Curling Souffle: I have to say my hair felt horrible when I used this gel. It felt gunky, rough, and just disgusting. But, it looked AMAZING lol. It was shiny and my curls were POPPIN. I personally hate when my hair feels disgusting, but it looked so good, I dealt with it! My wash and go lasted the FULL week, from Monday to Sunday when it was time to wash it. In the mornings, I just spritzed my hair with a little water, fluffed it out, and that was IT!

Moral of the story: I love BOTH gels for different reasons! If I want a super low maintenance style for the week, I’ll go with the Shea Moisture, but if I need my hair to be soft and touchable, I’ll use the Camille Rose. Have you ever used either gel? How do you like them?
